Off The Grid

Preperations are in the infant stages for a transistion in our lives.  Of course, this will take several years and mucho planning.  We will begin the process of finding and aquiring the land and even start heading UP there from time to time to plot and plan.

Those who know me know I like quiet.  Well, my dislike for everything around me is growing and the wife and I have decided that retirement will see us in a cabin in the woods.  No electric, no phone, no sewage or running water.  100% grid free.  All we need 10 acres or so, a small pond, and a quaint cabin.  To some this seems like hell on earth.  To us, this sounds like HEAVEN. 

When you live like this, all of your time is spent LIVING.  You dont have time for tv or blogs or facebooks, or anything like that.  You have time to split wood, work your crops, hunt for protein, fish for protein, do repairs, sleep, and start all over again.  Perfect way to spend my time.

Of course, we will need a satellite phone so we can keep in touch with the kids and for emergencies, but outside of that, we will be "off the grid".
